Midland Fire and Security, a specialist in fire and security systems, required a comprehensive lighting solution for a full office refurbishment — one that would deliver high-quality, comfortable working light throughout, while meeting all emergency and safety requirements from the inside out. Ansell Lighting’s range provided the complete answer.

At the heart of the installation are the Pace 600×600 UGR<19 backlit LED panels, fitted throughout the main office areas. The Pace panel’s UGR<19 rating ensures excellent visual comfort across the workspace, eliminating glare that can cause eye strain during prolonged screen-based tasks — a critical consideration in a busy, professional office environment. With CCT select ability between 3000K, 4000K and 6500K, and power select ability across three outputs, the panels offer Midland Fire and Security the flexibility to tailor light levels to different areas and working conditions.

Both the Pace panels and the Comfort Evo downlights were specified with OCTO smart control capability, giving the team at Midland Fire and Security complete control over their lighting from a single intuitive app. Staff can adjust dimming levels, change colour temperature, set automated schedules, and create lighting scenes tailored to different tasks and times of day — all from their smartphone, whether on site or remotely. Sensors ensure lighting adapts automatically to occupancy and daylight levels, reducing energy consumption without any manual input. For a business that understands the importance of safety and efficiency, OCTO delivers both — cutting energy costs while creating a smarter, more responsive working environment.

Emergency provision for the panels was handled using the Panel Pod Self-Test Emergency, which converts each Pace panel to a self-testing emergency luminaire with a simple twist-and-lock fixing — no rewiring, no additional housing. The Pod’s ICEL-certified LiFePO4 battery ensures long-term reliability, while the tri-colour LED indicator keeps system status visible at a glance.

Elsewhere, the Comfort Evo CCT selectable downlight was specified to complement the panel installation. The Comfort Evo’s deep cut-off angle provides effective glare control, while its IP44 rating and polycarbonate housing make it a durable, long-lasting choice for a variety of interior spaces. Emergency capability was added using the Hawk Universal Lithium Emergency Kit, an ultra-slim self-test converter that integrates cleanly with the downlight without compromising aesthetics.

Throughout the building, the Adler Exit Sign provided clear, compliant escape route signage. With five mounting options and two-part rotatable legends, arrow direction can be set on site — reducing variants and simplifying installation.

Completing the specification, Wolf CCT multi-wattage wall packs were installed along the building exterior. Built from die-cast aluminium with IP65 and IK10 ratings, the Wolf delivers robust, low-glare illumination with up to 120 lm/W efficiency, an 84,000-hour lifetime, and dark-sky compliant light distribution.

The result is a fully integrated, compliant lighting scheme that takes Midland Fire and Security’s refurbished office from entrance to exterior — combining quality working light, smart control, reliable emergency provision, and durable exterior performance in one cohesive Ansell solution.
