P-Cell LED Strip Shines at Royal Dornoch Golf Club’s £13.9m Transformation

P-Cell IP20 LED strip takes centre stage in the transformation of the golf club, installed into ceiling alcoves and along exposed beams to create a stunning architectural lighting feature throughout the clubhouse's most prestigious social spaces.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club is one of the most celebrated golf clubs in the world — and its stunning £13.9 million clubhouse transformation, two years in the making, demanded a lighting solution worthy of that reputation. Ansell Lighting’s P-Cell IP20 Single White LED strip was chosen to bring the interior to life across this landmark project.

The three-storey clubhouse features the P-Cell strip throughout its most prestigious social spaces, including the members’ lounge, bar and seating area. Installed into ceiling alcoves and run along the length of exposed ceiling beams, the strip creates a warm, continuous line of light that frames each space with a refined, architectural quality — enhancing the character of the building without overpowering it.

The P-Cell’s elite-level LED chip technology was central to why it was the right product for this project. With a CRI of greater than 97 and an exceptionally low SDCM of 3, the strip produces outstanding quality white light that renders colours and materials with precision — essential in a high-end hospitality environment where the warmth of timber, the texture of upholstery, and the finish of every detail needs to look its very best.

With 240 LEDs per metre, the P-Cell delivers a seamless, uniform output with no visible spotting or hotspots — a critical requirement when the strip is on full display in ceiling alcoves and along beams. The result is a smooth, unbroken wash of light that reads as a considered design feature rather than a functional afterthought.

An extensive range of colour temperature options, from a warm 2200K through to 4000K, gave the design team the flexibility to select the precise tone that complemented the club’s interior aesthetic — creating an atmosphere that feels welcoming and sophisticated in equal measure.
