The Challenge:

The London Business School recognized the importance of creating an optimal learning environment for its students and staff. One of the key aspects of achieving this, was upgrading the internal lighting system across a section of its campus. The existing installed lighting was outdated, inefficient, and unable to provide the level of visual comfort and visual performance required for various spaces within this modern forward-thinking school.

The Solution:

To address these challenges, the London Business School decided to partner with Ansell Lighting, a leading provider of innovative lighting solutions for the education sector. After consultation and careful consideration, two products from the extensive range on offer were selected in order to transform the lighting across the campus:

Firstly, the Comfort Evo was selected to enhance the lighting quality in classrooms, lecture halls, and study areas. The Comfort Evo is an economic high performance IP44 recessed downlight, CCT selectable between 3000K and 4000K and power selectable offering the choice of two outputs, with an intelligent and eco-friendly 3-part design, allowing the client the choice of either black or white reflector and trim accessory addition (ACOM*/1), which offers great customisation and product upgradability, making it an ideal solution for numerous applications, including those of commercial and healthcare. The fitting has a polycarbonate housing with unique thermal management for durability and optimum lifespan, and the design allows installation into existing hole cut-outs of 210mm and has a deep cut-off angle to assist in glare control for enhanced visual comfort. Available in Dimmable options and Emergency versions of standard and Self-Test Emergency, using the Hawk Kit Emergency Pack. An Anti-Ligature kit available for installation in secure environments, such as educational and healthcare facilities. The Comfort Evo provides a perfect blend of aesthetic appeal, energy efficiency, and user comfort. Its state-of-the-art design offers a diffused, glare-free light that is gentle on the eyes and contributes to a conducive learning environment. Please note downlight and driver (ACOM*/1) are sold separately from reflector (ACOM/TR/*/1).

Secondly, the Vantage performance CCT selectable LED Downlight was selected to provide a dynamic and adaptable lighting solution within common areas, corridors, and meeting rooms. This downlight, with its deep cut-off angle allows for optimum glare control for increased visual comfort, alongside colour temperature adjustability of 3000K, 4000K and 6500K. The downlight design allows installation into existing ceiling apertures from 150mm to 200mm. This downlight is an ideal solution for education and commercial applications, allowing LBS to set the lighting ambiance according to specific needs, whether for focused work, relaxation, or social interaction. An Anti-Ligature kit available for installation in secure environments, such as educational and healthcare facilities.

Project Implementation:

The installation of the products at London Business School was carried out systematically and efficiently. The project was completed in multiple phases to minimize disruption to the ongoing academic activities, with the existing lighting fixtures were replaced with Comfort Evo and Vantage CCT Downlights. This process involved configuring the lighting controls to ensure that the lighting levels and colour temperature could be adjusted to suit different purposes and times of day. Advanced control systems enabled LBS to achieve energy savings and optimize the lighting experience.
