The modern office of a private company located in Birmingham has recently undergone a lighting overhaul.

It is now widely accepted, that the importance of the right workspace lighting can have a direct impact on mood, energy level and productivity. Installed lighting which is excessively bright can cause eye strain for employees and may cause migraines, whilst lighting which is excessively dim may result in employees feeling tired and lethargic.

It is imperative that companies consider all the elements of the workspace design, including that of the lighting, as it now most important to design and install the optimum lighting solution, as achieving all the elements of the lighting installation can generate a more energised and creative environment for employees to ensure they are achieving maximum performance for the business.

Taking all this into account, the project required a variety of lighting equipment across the different spaces within the application, which is where Ansell were asked to offer their deep expertise, alongside having a vast product portfolio to operate from, allowed the company to be a one-stop shop for all lighting needs.

The project achieved a successful conclusion, when a variety of Ansell Lighting luminaires came together to create a stunning lighting solution. The selection included the Otto LED CCT Suspended Linear fitting, the Ruby LED, the Boa LED Plug and Play Flexible Strip, providing a stunning-coloured illumination across the entire workspace, where in addition the Comfort LED Downlight could be found dotted around the building and additionally in the toilets. The stunning architectural Eaves LED Recessed Linear was used to illuminate the walkways, whilst in the meeting rooms, the Unity 100 Square fitting could be found, and last but not least, the Signal LED provided the all-important emergency lighting throughout all the working areas and ancillary spaces.

In taking a closer look at each of these products individually, they all boast incredible features, but most importantly, the selected fittings come together to create the ultimate lighting solution.

The Otto architectural slim profile suspended linear luminaire provides an ideal solution for office, retail, and educational applications, and with its slim profile, being available in a choice of White, Aluminium and Black finishes, with matching die-cast aluminium end caps, combined with having an adjustable bracket system allows complete flexibility in mounting, alongside the option of individual or continuous suspension, With a specially designed diffuser which allows the installer quick access to wiring ensures a quick and easy installation. In being supplied with bi–directional light output as standard, where a downward directional only option can be selected when and if required, as well as being supplied with a 1.5m suspension kit as standard. With selectable CCT output between 3000K and 4000K in 42Watt and 66Watt variants, as well as the selection of various dimming and sensor options and having an LED lifespan to LM80 of 42,000 hours, all of which provides enhanced suitability for numerous types of application.

Accompanying the Otto suspended solution is the slim and modern Ruby LED pendant fitting with a die-cast housing, in white and black paint finish options with a white bottom cover, and this minimalistic pendant is offered with 15Watt LED, which is Triac dimmable as standard, exceeding the performance of a 42W PLC and featuring an impressive LED lifespan to L70 of 50,000 hours.

The Boa provides the real magic for any installation, being a flexible LED strip suitable for residential, hospitality and retail applications, with a 24Volt input offering greater efficiencies and the option of longer LED strip lengths. In single colour, RGB, RGBW and tunable white, this flexible LED strip has a self-adhesive back for ease of installation, and with fast fit plug and play connections which remove the need for time consuming soldering of joints, the Boa can bring stunning colour to any environment.

The Eaves Recessed Linear is an architectural aluminium LED recessed linear, with a black polycarbonate micro reflector offering a low glare solution, suitable for office, retail, and commercial applications, and with sturdy spring clips providing a tight and lasting position once installed. With an extended life of L80 to a massive 84,000 hours, the availability of dimmable options and controllability through the use of smart controls, this fitting can offer peace of mind being fully operational throughout the normal expected life of the installation.

Also included is the Unity 100 Square downlight, which is an IP54 compact high performance architectural downlight suitable for commercial, hospitality and retail applications. Having a Die-cast aluminium construction, which powder coated, and Mirror finished anodized reflector offering a 30° cut-off angle resulting in an anti-glare design for create visual comfort, and a circular hole cut-out for ease of installation and fitting alignment.

Providing the emergency lighting is the Signal LED Emergency Downlight, which is an economic and compact LED fixed downlight with an integral selector switch providing option of high/medium/low brightness of green charging indicator. Offered with a white or black powder coat paint finish, the Signal features a 3-hour non-Maintained emergency output.
