The Wenlock School

The Wenlock School in Dudley (UK) is renowned for its therapeutic approach to education, supporting each individual student, and with specialised facilities, it has the ability to create a unique environment which helps students adapt and follow their personalised curriculum.

Lighting, being one of the most important segments in creating the optimum environment, needs to align with this vision process. For this reason, the Endurance LED Panel from Ansell Lighting was specified and installed into the classrooms, music rooms, and the kitchen.

With its low glare approach of achieving a UGR<19 compliant installation, whilst creating high visual comfort and visual performance, alongside having a uniform light distribution and reducing glare, all of which is very important in these types of educational projects.

Additionally, this luminaire range offers a multitude of control options, Digital Dimming, and OCTO Intelligent Control, as well as DALI emergency. The lighting system can be programmed to take advantage of any daylight, by reducing the electric light, based upon the natural light component available at any one time.

The Endurance Panel range is available in 600 x 600 mm, 1200 x 600 mm and 1200 x 300 mm sizes, with the former being used for this application at The Wenlock School. With a white anodised frame for visual compatibility with a TP(a) rated diffuser fitted as standard, and available in both High Output and Low Output versions, as well as offering different colour temperature variants of 3000K, 4000K or 6000K, providing flexibility for the correct lighting solution in each location.

Accessories such as the suspension kit or the surface mounting frame offer the possibility of installing the LED Panels in different locations, where a suspended ceiling may not be suitable, as well as a recessing kit for plasterboard installations.

The fitting range can also be installed together with the Ansell Lighting Panel Pod, a product which converts the standard mains panel into an Emergency or Microwave Sensor, depending on the desired function. It incorporates a 5-year warranty and a lifetime of L80 to 50,000 hours, makes the Endurance LED Panel, the ideal choice for this project.
