DarkSky – the new name for the world authority on light pollution

Ansell Lighting was proud to become a member of the International Dark-Sky Association earlier this year often referred to as the IDA

The IDA has become the acknowledged world authority on light pollution over the past 30 years, however the name was regarded as  somewhat cumbersome. And where scientific institutions, government bodies, and the public looked towards the IDA to promote the best practices for outdoor lighting at night, it was considered time to modernise the brand identity.

The International Dark-Sky Association is now known as DarkSky.

The Darksky name has been previously used on the website, where readers have the opportunity to access detailed information on light pollution, and in achieving better outdoor lighting.

Ansell is delighted to be featured on the  website – find us by  selecting ‘Lighting’ and then ‘Find Dark Sky Friendly Lighting’, then ‘Search by Company’, wn and select Ansell Lighting. This provides access to the luminaires currently International Dark-Sky Association approved, and which carry the IDA Fixture Seal of Approval.

Including such approved luminaires in outdoor applications means that the equipment has objective, third-party certification for lighting which will minimise glare, reduce light trespass and does not pollute the night sky.

For further information, please look for approved luminaires on the company website, or contact your local Ansell Lighting stockist for further assistance.
