Residential Kitchen Renovation with LED Strip and Prism Pros

The Project

A private homeowner undertook a complete renovation of their kitchen with the objective of modernising the space through integrated, energy-efficient lighting. The brief was to introduce architectural lighting elements that would enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of the kitchen while maintaining a clean, minimal finish.

To achieve this, a lighting scheme was designed using Ansell’s E-Cell IP20 LED Strip with plaster-in profile, paired with Prism Pro downlights, to create an ambient feature ceiling and provide functional task lighting

The Solution

The centrepiece of the installation is a custom-designed plaster-in ceiling detail incorporating E-Cell IP20 LED Strip lighting. This created a striking architectural feature, delivering a continuous wash of light that accentuates the kitchen’s shape and enhances spatial perception.

The E-Cell LED strip provides:

• High efficacy of up to 106lm/W

• A long lifetime of 50,000 hours

• Flexible installation with 50mm cut points

• Dimmability for adaptable ambient light levels

• Available in a choice of colour temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 4000K)

To complement the ambient lighting, Prism Pro fire-rated downlights were installed throughout the ceiling. These deliver high-performance task lighting and offer versatile features including:

• Dual wattage (5W or 8W selectable)

• CCT switchable between 2700K, 3000K and 4000K

• IP65 front face, suitable for use in kitchen environments

• Integrated driver with tool-free push-fit terminal for ease of installation

• Fire-rated for 30, 60 and 90-minute ceilings

Together, these solutions create a dynamic and adaptable lighting environment that enhances both the design and functionality of the space.

The Result

The completed project provides a seamless integration of modern lighting design within a residential kitchen setting. The plaster-in LED strip delivers a sleek and contemporary aesthetic, while the Prism Pro downlights ensure bright, even illumination for everyday use.

The ability to switch between different colour temperatures and dim the fittings adds flexibility, allowing the lighting to adapt for various times of day or activities — from bright task lighting for cooking to soft ambient lighting for entertaining.
