Salisbury Plain Training Area

Located in the heart of the Salisbury Plain Training Area and near the village of Tilshead is a Cadet Training Centre. The centre gives cadets access to many different environments in which they can learn leadership and teamwork skills while taking part in fieldcraft and navigation training.

The living accommodation at the training centre was in need of a refurbishment so Ansell lighting were identified as the preferred lighting manufacturer to supply a number of our LED luminaires for the centre’s lighting upgrade. They required cost-effective, reliable and high-quality lighting solutions and Ansell were able to provide them with a variety of our products.

Safety at the centre was of key importance so several of our emergency light fittings were chosen for the install. Including our Merlin and Falcon emergency downlights. The Merlin LED is an ultra-low profile recessed self-test emergency downlight which comes with self-test as standard meaning the luminaires check themselves automatically to ensure each emergency light is fully operational. This has great benefits including reducing maintenance time. The high specification optic design and performance of the fitting also allowed increased spacing providing a reduced cost.

They also chose the Falcon LED a compact surface ultra-low profile emergency downlight, again this luminaire is self-test as standard and supplied with open area and escape route interchangeable lenses. Above their doorways, our Eagle 3-in-1 exit sign was installed as this has a choice of three different mounting options : suspension, recessed or side arm wall mounting and offered the versatility required.

Lighting the main areas was a combination of our non-corrosive battens and LED panels

Our Tornado Pro is new to our range of non-corrosives this IP65 linear includes user-friendly embedded features and fast-latching or permanent stainless-steel side clips to make it simple to quickly and accurately install and maintain this luminaire in any application. A quick-release LED array and gear tray assembly makes things even easier. The Tornado pro comes with a Tridonic LED driver and self-test emergency as standard, coupled with Lithium battery technology for quicker charging and lower running costs.

Overall, they were delighted with the installation, our lighting fixtures illuminated the accommodation to a fantastic standard and they are now looking to roll this out for further applications.
