Smart Control Lighting Transformation for Modern Showroom

The Project

Designed by Andrew Keenan and installed by E. Parry Electrical, this lighting project was supplied by Edmundson Derby. The brief called for a flexible, controllable lighting scheme to complement two large decorative halo fittings within the space. Initially, the design featured standard track lighting, but the client sought a solution offering greater versatility and dimming capability to enhance both ambience and functionality.

The Solution

To elevate the design, Ansell Lighting’s Octo smart lighting system was introduced, offering intuitive control and pre-set dimming options to meet the client’s specific needs.

The installation featured two key products:

• Prism Pro Octo CCT Fire Rated Downlights (Dual Wattage)
  Installed in the office area, these downlights deliver powerful, efficient illumination with full control via the OCTO platform. Their dual-wattage and tunable CCT functionality allow for tailored light levels and colour temperature, providing optimal comfort and productivity.

• Octo Primo Three Circuit Track with Legion Emergency Modules
  Used throughout the main showroom, the OCTO Primo track system provides adaptable, directional lighting that can be easily reconfigured as the space evolves. The integration of Legion emergency fittings ensures safety compliance without compromising aesthetics.

To enhance usability, the lighting system was commissioned with four preset dimming levels ranging from 20% to 100%, giving staff seamless control over light intensity for different tasks and times of day.

The Result

The completed installation delivers a refined balance between style, functionality, and intelligent control. The OCTO system provides effortless adjustment, allowing the space to transition smoothly from bright, high-activity conditions to softer, ambient scenes.

Both the showroom and office areas benefit from enhanced flexibility and energy efficiency, while the decorative halo fittings remain a striking focal point.
