Ansell’s luminaires – including Primo Track, Vasco Evo and Tornado Evo – were used across the fresh food and lifestyle floors of the stunning three-storey city centre market.

On the middle floor of the state-of-the-art building three-circuit Primo Track was used inside the fresh food stalls, including butchers and fruit and veg displays, delicatessens and pop-up booths, as well as clothing and jewellery retailers on the lifestyle floor – to allow traders to highlight products and focus their lighting.

Primo Track offers 355° rotation with up to 180° tilt on the bracket, along with interchangeable 24° and 36° lens accessories and multiple track accessories, to deliver a wide variety of customisable layout options, making it ideal for retail settings.

The hugely versatile Vasco Evo bi-directional suspended linear pendant was used over seating areas and walkways on both floors to provide uniform lighting. Vasco is produced in both 1200mm and 1500mm lengths, but can be adapted using innovative continuous linking or corner connectors to create continuous strips of lighting in large spaces.

For food prep areas, such as butchers shops and the Food Savers Cookery school, which is housed within the market, the popular Tornado Evo industrial batten was utilised.

The Tornado Evo luminaire is made from a durable, non-corrosive polycarbonate, rated IP66 and IK10 for increased ingress dust and water jet protection and impact resistance, and offers high levels of efficacy up to 170 lm/W, and is both power and CCT selectable at between 4,000 and 6,500K – reducing the number of luminaires required to achieve desired light levels in these settings.

Colin  Wolstenholme, Markets Manager for Bradford Metropolitan District Council, said: “The Council was really keen to create a new modern, purpose-built market along with an outdoor courtyards and events space. Lighting was really key to making the market attractive and practical for both customers and the retailers. We worked with each trader on the development of their stalls and to ensure the lighting – both feature lighting and sales lighting – suited their needs. It needed to be both high quality and versatile and the products from Ansell have really delivered on that.”
