ollowing an extensive refurbishment, Güdlift Gym in Manchester has reopened with a bold new identity, creating a premium training environment designed around performance, wellbeing and member experience. Combining high-specification fitness equipment with an industrial-inspired interior, the facility delivers distinct spaces for strength training, general workouts and immersive studio classes.

To complement the contemporary design, Güdlift selected a range of Ansell Lighting solutions throughout the gym. Each area has been carefully lit to suit its purpose, balancing aesthetics with performance while ensuring excellent visual comfort and energy efficiency.

The Challenge

The refurbishment required a lighting scheme that could enhance the character of each training zone while maintaining a cohesive look throughout the facility. Free Weights Area

The free weights section features Vasco Evo linear luminaires installed using the continuous mounting system, creating seamless runs of light that complement the exposed black ceiling and reinforce the gym’s modern industrial aesthetic.

With its slim architectural profile, high efficacy and low-glare optic, Vasco Evo delivers uniform illumination across lifting areas, improving visibility while maintaining visual comfort for members. The continuous installation creates clean, uninterrupted lines that become a striking design feature as well as a practical lighting solution.

Main Gym Floor

Throughout the main gym, Comfort Evo LED downlights provide consistent, high-quality general illumination across cardio equipment, resistance machines and functional training areas.

Offering excellent colour rendering and a low-glare output, Comfort Evo creates a bright, welcoming environment that supports both performance and comfort. The recessed design delivers a clean ceiling appearance while the energy-efficient LED technology helps reduce ongoing operating costs without compromising light quality.

Spin Studio

To create a completely different atmosphere within the spin studio, C-Cell RGBW LED Strip has been installed within recessed wall profiles, transforming the space into an immersive workout environment.

The smart-enabled RGBW LED strip allows instructors to customise colours, scenes and lighting effects to match the intensity and mood of each class. Whether delivering calming tones for warm-ups and recovery sessions or vibrant dynamic colours during high-energy rides, the system provides complete lighting flexibility while maintaining smooth, uniform illumination throughout the room.
