Boldmere St. Michaels Football Club is based in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield, England, having a rich history dating back to 1883 and are currently, members of the Midland League Premier Division playing at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.

Recently, the club had new dressing rooms facility built, which is now located closer to the playing pitch halfway line. In total the new build encompasses both home and way team changing rooms, officials changing rooms, a boardroom, classroom, and gym, with this being considered as a significant investment by the club as they look forward to a successful future.

This new build presented numerous lighting requirements, such as luminaire quality, project reliability and cost efficiency. During the design phase of the new build, Ansell Lighting was proposed to the Estate Manager Jon Lucas, as the go-to supplier, capable of meeting all the club’s lighting requirements and more.

The Ansell Freska LED Downlight Downlight and the Lodi LED Slim Downlight were quickly identified as being the luminaires with the capability of providing the optimum solution to fully meet the needs of the club and were both specified and installed across the whole new build project.

The Freska is a non-Dimmable, and economic ultra-slim circular LED downlight, with edge-lit LEDs, providing excellent beam distribution and uniform illumination, making it ideal for this type of semi-commercial application. With availability in both cool white and warm white options, as well as multiple wattage variants and supplied with a remote LED Driver, having plug-and-play connection allows the contractor ease of installation. The added benefit of an optional plug-in self-test emergency pack for all three models allows this range to facilitate its use as the emergency lighting component of a building. Having an ingress protection of IP44 and an LED lifespan of L70 at 30,000 hours, makes this fitting range ideally suited for use within this building.

Also included in the installation is the Lodi, which is a non-Dimmable, and economic polycarbonate circular LED Slim Downlight, featuring a low-profile design with integral driver, and supplied pre-wired with 300mm of cable. With an LED lifespan of L70 at 25,000 hours, this fitting range offers an ideal solution for areas having a shallow ceiling void. A remote emergency pack is also available, offering a maintained option when required.

The Estates Manager, Jon Lucas was incredibly pleased with the outcome of the lighting component of the whole project, and significantly impressed with the quality and suitability of the Ansell luminaires. With the club now having a growing junior team section, it is proposed to convert the previous dressing rooms into a larger function room, which the club can utilise for entertaining. Jon has said that he is keen to work with Ansell again on any possible future projects.
