Ocean Mini and BMW – Falmouth

MINI is an automotive company owned by BMW which specialises in small cars. Ansell were asked to undertake a lighting scheme for the new showroom with the key objective to achieve maximum illumination performance combined with minimal energy consumption. MINI are pioneers in the showroom ‘experience’ with their all black showrooms that focus heavily on lighting. They wanted to create a showroom environment that reflects their brand perfectly.

They required a lighting upgrade from fluorescent to LED lighting. Achieving the desired Lux levels was a key objective as retail lighting can have a direct effect on an individual’s mood; it can optimise a store layout and guide customers, creating an engaging shopping experience. Another important consideration was energy efficiency and the reduction of operating costs.

All of the project objectives were met with the installation of our Unity 150 LED dimmable downlights. This compact high performance, professional downlight with die-cast aluminium construction and anti-glare diffuser for visual comfort was the perfect choice for the showroom.  With energy efficiency being a key project requirement, the Unity 150 offers substantial energy savings of 58% compared to its 2 x 42W PLC equivalent.

The unity also boasts a CRI of 80 meaning the LED lighting brings out the bright colours and textures that enhance the appeal of merchandise on display, in this case the MINI’s fantastic design.

Overall the Mini showroom owners were delighted with the end result not only with the LED performance but the energy savings and reduced operating costs.
