: The LEDs within COB (Chip-on-Board) LED Strip are mounted directly onto the PCB board, rather than the SMD (Surface Mounted Diode) chip, which is placed within a plastic casing, before being soldered onto the PCB. This means that in not having an outer casing, the COB LED chips are much smaller, allowing for a greater density of chips per metre of LED Strip, which offers the benefit of a seamless light output, creating a beneficial aesthetic effect, making it ideal for applications where the individual SMD LED chips may create a ‘spotting effect’.
: When using IP20 rated strip, this is possible with using the supplied connectors, however for IP65 and IP67 rated strip, the installer will be required to solder joints, in order to maintain ingress protection.
